A typical Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) session will last from 3-4 hours, and will involve learning stretches and exercises to do on your own as well as being assisted by the AIS practitioner. The practitioner of AIS is trained to look at posture and movement to see how each person may benefit the most. As you will be exercising, you will want to wear clothes in which you can move around easily. Skirts and jeans are not recommended clothing for stretching. You will be expected to buy an AIS book for use at home if you do not already have one. In many cases, though not all, a patient will have the skills for self care learned in 2-4 sessions.
